There is no way to prevent breast cancer, but if cancer is found early through screening, then there is a good chance that the cancer can be cured.
The screening test for breast cancer is called a mammogram. This test is an x-ray of your breasts that can find breast cancer early, when it may be smaller and easier to treat.
To learn more about when you should get a mammogram, visit Cancer Care Ontario's website.
If you are 50 years of age or older you can make your own appointment with the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP):

If you are younger than 50 years of age but are at risk of developing breast cancer due to family history or a genetic link, see your health care provider for a screening referral.
