Dental Treatment Assistance Fund (DTAF)
What is the DTAF?
The DTAF is a charitable resource created by KFL&A Public Health to provide financial assistance to adults in the KFL&A area who need emergency dental treatment, but don't have the financial means to pay for it. This program is funded by donations from local dental professionals and others, as well as proceeds from KFL&A Public Health's Sports Mouthguard Program. We are very grateful to community agencies such as Neighbourhood Sharing program and the KFL&A United Way for their generous donations.
Who qualifies for the DTAF?
Adults (18 years of age and older) may qualify for assistance from the DTAF if:
- they are a resident of Kingston, Frontenac or Lennox & Addington,
- they need emergency dental treatment for pain, swelling, infection, trauma, or bleeding,
- they do not have access to any form of dental coverage, including government-funded programs such as Ontario Works or Ontario Disability Support Program, and
- the cost of emergency dental treatment would create a financial hardship. This means that any or all of the following situations would apply:
- you would be unable to pay your rent or mortgage this month,
- you would be unable to pay your household bills (e.g., heat, electricity, hydro, etc.) this month, and
- you would have to go to a food bank in order to feed your family this month.
Use of the DTAF coverage is limited to $400.00 per person, per year.

How do I donate to DTAF?
Thank you for your interest! We are very grateful for all donations to the DTAF. Each donation of $200 allows us to serve one individual in our community who is experiencing pain, and will help us ensure that this assistance remains available for another year.
As the DTAF is a registered charitable fund, all donations are tax-deductible. Official receipts are issued by KFL&A Public Health.

Cheques should be made payable to the Dental Treatment Assistance Fund and mailed to KFL&A Public Health Dental Program, 221 Portsmouth Avenue, Kingston, Ontario, K7M 1V5.
