Adults 18 to 64 years of age should aim to accumulate at least 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous aerobic physical activity each week, including strengthening activities using major muscle groups at least 2 days per week.
It is also important to include several hours of light physical activity daily, including standing.
Replacing sedentary behaviour (time spent sitting or lying down) with additional physical activity and trading light physical activity for more moderate to vigorous physical activity, can provide greater health benefits!
Moderate intensity physical activity means your breathing and heart rate will increase, you will feel warm, and start to sweat. You should be able to have a conversation in between breaths.
Vigorous intensity physical activity means your breathing and heart rate will increase, and you will likely be sweating. It will be very challenging to have a conversation with someone.
