All-terrain vehicles (ATVs) can be an exciting way to enjoy the outdoors. However, as with any motorized vehicle, there is a serious risk of injury if operated incorrectly. The KFL&A area has almost double the rate of emergency department visits for ATV-related injuries as Ontario. In 2015, 146 people from the KFL&A area visited the emergency department for ATV-related injuries. The highest rates of emergency department visits are seen in males between the ages of 10 and 34, and females between the ages of 10 and 19.
