What is Amoxicillin?
Amoxicillin is an antibiotic. It is an alternate treatment for pregnant or nursing mothers with Chlamydia.
Do NOT take this medication if you are allergic to Penicillin and/or Cephalosporins.
How is Amoxicillin taken?
Take 1 pill three times a day for 7 days with or without food. Finish taking all pills as prescribed.
If you vomit within two hours of taking any dose of this medication, call the clinic to get more pills.
Precautions
- Do not have sex or close genital-to-genital contact for the 7 days during your treatment.
- Do not have sex or close genital-to-genital contact with your partner until 7 days after he/she starts his/her treatment.
- Do not drink alcohol while taking this antibiotic and up to 48 hours after treatment complete.
- The effects of the birth control pill, the patch, and the ring are not affected by taking this antibiotic.
Common side effects
- Upset stomach
- Mild diarrhea
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Headache
- Sore mouth
- Yeast infections
