In order for any birth control method to be effective, it needs to be taken as directed. This fact sheet is to help you get back on track if you miss or start your birth control late. If you are having trouble remembering to take your pills on time, talk to a health care professional about other birth control options.
I was late taking my pill (pill delayed by more than 3 hours) or missed one or more pills and had unprotected sex during the last 5 days:
Consider taking Plan B. Take one pill the next day and continue taking one pill a day at the same time of day. Use a back-up method of birth control (condoms) for 48 hours.
