KFL&A Public Health provides public health programs to more than 209,000 people living in our community. Our main office is located in Kingston, with staff members and volunteers also working out of branch offices in Napanee, and Cloyne.
We have over 200 staff and volunteers who deliver public health programs and services to the people of the KFL&A area.

Public Health Promoter - Full-time |
$62,790 to $80,007 per year There is an immediate opening for a Public Health Promoter, School Health, within the Healthy Growth and Development portfolio.The Public Health Promoter assesses the need for health promotion, plans, implements and evaluates comprehensive health promotion strategies, and provides direct health promotion services in accordance with the Ontario Public Health Standards. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion, Health Education or equivalent. Experience in health promotion preferred. Communications and Public Relations Specialist - Full-time |
$78,351 to $92,165 per year There is an immediate opening for a Communications and Public Relations Specialist, Communications, within the Corporate Services portfolio. The Communications and Public Relations Specialist is responsible for providing strategic communications direction in support of the agency mission and health promotion and health protection program and service objectives. They will plan, develop, implement, and evaluate communication plans and strategies for both external and internal audiences. Provides leadership in public relations, community relations, media relations, and risk and emergency communications and works collaboratively with others to achieve organizational objectives. Ensures agency communications are clear and effective, and meet corporate identity standards. The successful candidate will have a university degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or an equivalent combination of education and experience, three (3) years progressive experience in communications, public relations or marketing, proficiency in project management, with a proven track record of successfully overseeing multiple teams and timelines, knowledge and skills in social marketing, health communication, research methods, and development and evaluation of health communications strategies, and demonstrated skills in writing, editing, and editing for digital media and print communications. Experience with content management systems, AODA requirements and Canadian Press style is also required, and knowledge of public health communications is preferred. Public Health Inspector - Full-time |
$74,401 to $85, 176 per year There is an immediate opening for a Public Health Inspector, Environmental Health, within the Infectious Disease Prevention and Environmental Health portfolio. The Public Health Inspector is responsible for carrying out a general public health inspection program in a designated area through enforcement of the Health Protection and Promotion Act, and the Regulations made thereunder and other relevant legislation. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science – Environmental Health degree or equivalent, possess a Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada) and have the ability to demonstrate knowledge of the Health Protection and Promotion Act and related regulations. Application Developer - Full-time term (12 months) |
$62,790 to $80,007 There is an immediate opening for an Application Developer, IT and Informatics, within the Corporate Services portfolio. The Application Developer is responsible for successfully designing, coding, testing, and deploying highly integrated and scalable e-health software solutions. They participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle from analysis of customer functional requirements and definition of corresponding technical specifications through to design, build, and test, on to deployment and the provision of first level support. The Application Developer will assist with the development of a new web-based UI for a province wide, syndrome based, healthcare surveillance system. The successful candidate will have a Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical degree and have 2-5 years of software development experience with strong object-oriented programming and design patterns experience. Experience with application development for mobile devices including tablets and smartphones and using cloud computing services, RESTful service-oriented architectures, and web mapping/GIS APIs is an asset. Volunteer opportunities

Volunteer opportunities vary by time of year and type of event. We offer volunteers a range of opportunities in the following areas:
- Clinic support volunteers provide assistance and support to the clinics.
- General support volunteers assist with various health promotion and health protection special events and projects. Volunteers may assist agency teams with internal requests and odd jobs, such as replenishing supplies, putting together resources packages, providing activity support or monitoring the safety of event participants.
KFL&A Public Health volunteers are an important part of a dedicated team working towards better health. We welcome and encourage applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available upon request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the application process.
