Kingston—Due to the current outbreaks in personal service settings, KFL&A Public Health Inspectors are conducting additional inspections at all personal service settings in the KFL&A region. Public Health Inspectors will be enforcing the Nails and Aesthetic Services Checklist. This Checklist is found on the agency’s website at www.kflaph.ca/NailsAndEstheticsChecklist/

The Owner or Operator of the personal services setting shall operate the business in compliance with the advice, recommendations and instructions of public health inspectors or designate(s), including any advice, recommendations or instructions on physical distancing, cleaning, or disinfecting.

All personal service settings that provide services relating to the hair or body, including hair salons and barbershops, manicure and pedicure salons, aesthetician services, piercing services, tanning salons, spas and tattoo studios, may open if they comply with the following conditions:

1. No personal care services that tend to a patron’s face, such as facials, facial hair grooming or removal or makeup applications, may be provided.

2. Persons who provide personal care services in the business must wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

3. Patrons must wear face covering at all times while receiving personal care services.

All personal service settings in KFL&A must complete the Nails and Aesthetic Services Checklist and submit this Checklist to Enviro.Health@kflaph.ca or deliver it to KFL&A Public Health at 221 Portsmouth Avenue by Friday, July 3, 2020.

KFL&A Public Health is strongly recommending monthly asymptomatic testing of all employees of personal service settings in the KFL&A region. This routine testing will provide an additional measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and help to protect the health and safety of our community.

Enforcement actions will be taken if there is evidence of non-compliance with meeting the requirements outlined in the Checklist. If you have urgent questions, please email Enviro.Health@kflaph.ca or call 613-549-1232, ext. 1231 and for all other questions please reserve and discuss at the time of your inspection.

Action: Complete Nail and Aesthetic Services Checklist
Due date: Friday, July 3, 2020
Location: Online to Enviro.Health@kflaph.ca or at KFL&A Public Health (main office)
