Join KFL&A Public Health in launching an initiative to become a designated Best Practice Spotlight Organization® (BPSO®) by the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO).

The BPSO designation program, established in 2003, is an international program that supports the implementation of the RNAO’s Best Practice Guidelines (BPGs), which are long-established standards meant to promote the development of evidence-based cultures at health-care organizations, improve patient and community care and enrich professional practice of nurses and other health-care providers.

“We are embarking on the BPSO journey because it will ensure our programs and services reach the standard of excellence outlined in RNAO’s best practices guidelines,” said Kelly Monaghan, Chief Nursing Officer & Director, Professional Practice and Quality for KFL&A Public Health.

Reaching BPSO designation is a three-year endeavour that will foster interdisciplinary collaboration, improve processes and practices and enable staff to utilize their expertise. The designation is anticipated to help retain and attract health-care professionals at KFL&A Public Health while pursuing continuous quality improvement.

“I am very pleased to support this initiative to become a designated RNAO BPSO,” said Dr. Piotr Oglaza, Medical Officer of Health and CEO for KFL&A Public Health.

“Participation in this program will further assist in the integration of evidence-based programming at KFL&A Public Health, ultimately contributing to both greater organizational effectiveness and impact at the population and community level,” Dr. Oglaza continued.

Dr. Doris Grinspun, CEO of the RNAO, will be speaking at the launch event on Aug. 19 and will be available for questions.
