Back to SearchToday, Dr. Piotr Oglaza, Medical Officer of Health at KFL&A Public Health has rescinded three local Letters of Instruction and one Class Order as province enters Step 2 of its Roadmap to Reopen with modifications.
The following three Letters of Instruction pursuant to Section 2 of Schedule 1 of Ontario Regulation 364/20: Rules for Areas at Step 3 and at the Roadmap Exit Step are rescinded as of January 5, 2022.
- Letter of Instruction issued November 24, 2021 for businesses and organizations to enforce required proof of vaccination for first dose COVID-19 vaccine or a valid medical exemption for individuals 12 to 17 years participating in indoor organized sports and recreation activities. A full series proof of COVID-19 vaccine required by February 25, 2022. The Government of Ontario’s Regulation 364/20 was revised on December 18, 2021, and now includes this requirement.
- Letter of Instruction issued December 11, 2021 for businesses and organizations to implement strict mask use and an expanded list of symptoms for screening staff and patrons. The Government of Ontario’s Regulation 263/20 enacted on January 5, 2022 includes a comprehensive list of expanded symptoms for both active and passive screening. Furthermore, mask use is now required in the indoor area of all businesses and organizations, with limited exceptions.
- Letter of Instruction issued December 19, 2021 for businesses and organizations to reinstate capacity limits and physical distancing requirements, as well as additional requirements related to sports and competition. The Government of Ontario’s Regulation 263/20 enacted on January 5, 2022 has reinstated capacity limits and physical distancing requirements in all public settings. Indoor sports and recreational fitness activities are closed, with limited exceptions.
The following Class Order pursuant to Section 22 of the Ontario Health Protection and Promotion Act, 1990 is rescinded as of January 5, 2022.
- Class Order issued November 27, 2021 to restrict indoor social gatherings in private dwellings to no more than 10 people and for hosts to maintain a list of names and contact information for guests. The Government of Ontario’s Regulation 263/20 enacted on January 5, 2022, now requires a maximum of 5 people indoors.
The Government of Ontario’s Step Two of its Roadmap to Reopen with modifications is effective Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 12:01 a.m. for at least 21 days (until January 26, 2022), subject to trends in public health and health system indicators.
KFL&A residents are strongly encouraged to adhere to the enhanced provincial public health measures. We must continue to practice behaviours to slow the spread of COVID-19.
- Stay home and get tested for COVID-19 if you have any symptoms. - Get vaccinated by booking an appointment through KFL&A Public Health’s online vaccine clinic tool. When eligible, get a third dose of COVID-19 vaccine in any approved combination.
- Gather virtually, if possible.
- Reduce close contacts and limit social gatherings to 5 or less people. The less people who gather, the lower the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
- Mask and physical distance if gathering indoors with people from other households and when it feels right for you, especially if you or others are immunocompromised or at high-risk of severe disease or exposure to COVID-19.
“We have come so far, and as we provide increasing immunity to our community through immunization, we must all continue to practice public health measures, especially reducing social interactions and getting your third dose vaccine when eligible to keep our community safe,” said Dr. Piotr Oglaza, Medical Officer of Health of KFL&A Public Health.
