KINGSTON–KFL&A Public Health is reminding residents that blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) is a common seasonal occurrence in regional waterways. These bacteria occur worldwide and some species produce toxins that can affect animals and humans.

KINGSTON – KFL&A Public Health is advising residents of Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox & Addington area to be mindful of the hot and humid temperatures and take the necessary steps to avoid heat related illnesses.

Carfentanil found in KFL&A area

KINGSTON – According to community acquired data, local authorities strongly believe carfentanil is circulating the KFL&A area.
Carfentanil is a synthetic opioid not intended for human use, that is similar to fentanyl, but is 100 times more lethal. Depending on the purity of the drug, carfentanil can be more toxic than fentanyl, and 100 times more toxic than morphine. This means carfentanil can be deadly in extremely small amounts.
