KFL&A Public Health reminds residents to enjoy the upcoming solar eclipse safely. On Monday, April 8, 2024, the Moon’s orbit will position it directly between the Earth and the Sun, causing a solar eclipse. In Kingston, it is expected to be a near-total solar eclipse between 2:09 and 4:34 p.m. The peak of totality, where the sun appears to be completely covered by the moon, is expected to happen from 3:22 to 3:25 p.m.

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Kingston, Odessa, Frontenac Islands, Tamworth, Sydenham, South Frontenac, and Napanee due to high heat and humidex levels. A two-day heat event is expected Saturday, August 6 and Sunday, August 7, 2022. KINGSTON – Avian Influenza A (H5N1) has been identified in the Kingston, Frontenac, and Lennox & Addington region. Avian Influenza is a viral disease that affects mostly domestic poultry and wild birds such as geese, ducks, and shore birds. Wild birds, especially waterfowl, are a natural reservoir for mild strains of avian influenza.
